Product Owner is responsible for managing the product backlog, budgeting, and dates for the release schedule. This is maximizing the value of the Scrum Team.

- Participation in sprint events

Participates in Sprint and Sprint Events:
- Sprint Planning– they identify the priority order that they would like the Team to accomplish during the Sprint.
- Stand-Ups– monitors progress.
NOTE: Their level of participation is defined by the team.
- Sprint Review– they demonstrate the product to all stakeholders for feedback.
- Retrospective– discusses successes and challenges with the entire team in order to help improve future sprints.
- During Sprint– must be available during the sprint to answer questions and provide clarifications.
Product Owner Authority
- Sole person responsible for managing the Product Backlog Items.
- Determines when the product increments will be released, without overruling the Team’s estimated effort required to complete those increments and without violating the Sprint commitment.
- Only determines the “What” is needed, not the “How” it is delivered
- The Product Owner is one person, not a committee.
- In order to change a Product Backlog item’s priority, it must go through the Product Owner.
